About Me

Alan Fuller ImageThe power of Social Media excites me. I talk to the world from my desktop here in Hampshire – and the world talks back! I can run concurrent conversations with folk in New Zealand, in the USA, the South of France and at the same time talk to the guy down the road. Fantastic!

I used to watch fascinated as my teenage children furiously typed away on the PC holding multiple conversations with multiple friends all at the same time. I would think them slightly crazy however at that time. But now I recognise the extraordinary power of what they were up to then and what they are doing now on those social networking sites.

The internet was created to share and transfer information. The gift of the internet to the ordinary man is the power of total communication. All of us, whether young or not so young are living in a time when distance no longer factors in our ability to engage with friends, colleagues and acquaintances around the world. More than that, social media sites have delivered to us the ability to MAKE acquaintances with people who we would otherwise have had absolutely no chance or likelihood of ever meeting or communicating with.

Having spent many years at the head of a business where the marketing budget would of necessity swallow up a very significant percentage of revenue, I find this new world of social media marketing a quite refreshing place to be. Instead of writing cheques to feed the coffers of newspaper proprietors and radio stations for advertisements that had for the most part disappeared from mind and from view before the account landed on my desk, I see another way.

National and international corporations build brand awareness by repetition of their message. They have the financial clout to swamp our sound and our vision with their brand to the point where we are brainwashed into accepting and embracing their message, whether we fight it or not.

Most businesses will never have that magnitude of marketing budget. But with a carefully crafted and targeted message, delivered directly to a selected and qualified audience, return on marketing investment can be highly rewarding for smaller businesses. The key to success here comes from building a relationship with potential customers within a targeted marketplace. The skill is in building a trust and respect which works both ways.

The tools that can be used to drive the traffic and deliver the reward are out there for everybody to use at little or no expense. However, to achieve the desired outcome needs a thorough understanding across a number of platforms. Each platform must play its part within a structured action plan spread over a realistic time frame. Set up and engaged in correctly, social media marketing is viral in nature and has the potential for long term customer retention and ongoing revenue.

I can help you with your social media presence. I can get your message out there and bring your customers in. You can know what the word is on the street about your business. You can reap the reward of social engagement with your target audience.

Do get in touch and we will look at how social media can help you in your business.

With kindness
